As defined by partner (Lloyd Champagne): “Throttle Play is an app/software to allow immediate throttle control of videos, or other content online or on a computer which allows the customer to speed up or slow the screen to their liking. The initial intent is a button on the screen (that can be dragged to a different location) that is shaped elliptical with green/go on the right and colored red/slow on the left that allows a fingertip to control the viewing speed. It will depend on the micromotion of the fingertip and work like a throttle on a motorcycle. It could be a separate device with Bluetooth control for big screen tv/ etc.” More information can be provided pending the signing of an NDA.
I see being able to manipulate HTML5 video speed control as particularly useful in extensions and pop-up content for academics. Specifically, continued learning/company training would be more efficient since certification exams don’t allow speed options in their native state. This project has a lot of work but it is funded and has garnered interest.
