The Food Phone, “Food for People”, is a new project launched in April 2021. Its vision is to develop a community powered not for profit short food supply chain. The core concept of our work is GOOD FOOD, as good food not only improves health and wellbeing outcomes, but is also a denominator in other key areas: environmental sustainability, local economic prosperity, valued workforce, and animal welfare. It contributes to creating resilient communities, and fairness in the food chain.
The Food Phone is a cross-sectorial collaborative project involving both people, businesses, charities and groups and calls for a broader collaboration with public sector and more joint actions involving all actors. Our mission is to improve equity, affordability, accessibility, and consumption of quality, culturally relevant Good Food in Glasgow area.
We created a platform of good food distribution that, at first stage, (first month) will primarily operate as an emergency food provider. The project is to be launched by end of April and initially will operate as a “pay what you can” community food service with both cooked meals and food boxes on offer. Our running model aims to provide dignity and choice whilst addressing food insecurity and make food accessible and affordable.
Beginning with 1st of May we will integrate more robust e-commerce solutions and bring other food providers and partners on our good food platform. We truly believe we can make our contribution to recover and build a more resilient, fair and sustainable food system. We would need support for developing integrations and automations as well as full stack if possible .
