“Help a Paw” is an app that facilitates rescuing stray animals. It does so by allowing users to submit location-tagged signals (with description and photo) about animals in need. Other users are notified about signals around them and can offer help and coordinate.
The app is already live on the App Store and Google Play and has around 2000 registered users from Bulgaria (since this is the only place it has been popularized so far). It has no geographic limitation and the ambition is to expand its user base in other places that have stray animals.
I am the founder and currently the only developer in the project. I need help to expand the features of the two mobile apps (native iOS and Android) with the following features:
– Add different types of signals: for domestic and wild animals, injuries, need for neutering, need for blood donors (a big problem for pet owners), etc
– Show nearby veterinary clinic on the map
– Add user onboarding
– Generally improve the UX
I also want to develop a web app with the same functionality as the mobile ones. Apart from the convenience of using a computer it will also allow signals to be shared with unique links on social networks. This will greatly help with user reach! The technology for the web app is not yet chosen but we have a working demo in PHP. I also have the desire to try Flutter web (currently in beta) with the idea that some day it can replace the current native apps and unify the code bases.
The project is open source and can be found on GitHub: https://github.com/HelpAPaw
