Eyesea is an international nonprofit that maps maritime and ocean impact pollution through crowdsourced images. Our USP is our access to the international shipping and maritime community at both the crew/onboard and onshore levels. This gives us unique, and large scale, access to the oceans and coastal infrastructure providers (ports and terminals).
Our goal is to support ocean and waterway care by providing actionable data to governments, ports, community groups – anyone who wants to do good with the information. By integrating maritime mapping tech (including tide, current, weather data), machine learning (pollution identification and density analysis), and data management tools we hope to build an increasingly powerful set of tools that support clean up and pollution management all around the world.
following our initial proof of concept which has been a great success so far we are looking at making some improvements
he ability to register as an individual user
– The ability for an admin to register ships, companies, and community groups – which individuals could join as teams
– Running inter/intra entity leaderboards (gamification) for the above, base on the number of pics uploaded
– The ability to upload images through the phones picture library
– The ability to have a ‘one click’ method of taking a picture (we have an idea on this)
– The ability to choose preferences around front screen tags, language, anonymity, use of data/wifi/off for uploads
– The ability to send/receive messages from the admin
