Project description:

Finding Focus (www.findingfocus.app) is a joint initiative between UC Santa Barbara and UT Austin. Over the last four years, our team has created an online mindfulness course that helps teens improve their focus and emotional resilience. We’ve built a custom digital learning platform that allows this course to be personalized to each student and delivered seamlessly in school settings. 

Finding Focus is funded by the U.S. Department of Education, as well as several foundations and philanthropists. It’s currently offered to schools at no charge. To date, we’ve reached 35,000 high school students across more than 100 schools. Peer-reviewed scientific studies have established that our course can improve the focus and well-being of teens (Mrazek et al, 2019; Mrazek et al., 2020). 

Our application has been built and maintained by two veteran software engineers who are still involved in the project but who have increasingly limited availability. We’re looking for a new team member to take the lead on ongoing software development. We’re also open to having developers involved in a more limited capacity.
