I run a WordPress based website for the European String Teachers Association (UK), a charitable organisation which supports string instrument teachers in the UK and abroad.
The site is currently fully functional, but to achieve the levels of functionality we needed I have had to use a large number of plugins.
This would seem to be causing fairly major speed issues with the website and it is beyond my current level of knowledge to successfully solve these!
We have a test server available for testing work 🙂
I would value help from anyone with WordPress experience in firstly identifying any specific problem plugins, and secondly in how to keep functionality whilst using fewer plugins.
Many thanks!

Hi Steve,
That’s great news. Let me know if you do need any help in the future.

Hi Steve, I am based in the UK and have developed (and re-developed) WordPress websites. I’ve found the main problem with speed issues has been because plugins have not been kept up to date. However, as you suggest I’m sure some plugins are more efficient than others.
I have also had a look at your website and it doesn’t look that slow to me, but I’ve only had a browse around. Are there some areas giving you particular speed issues? I will certainly take a look at your plugins if you like.

Hi Wendy,
Thanks so much for replying!
In a bit of a coincidence – but maybe tis often happens! – I managed to make a breakthrough, I think, with optimisation settings and caching, plus removed a few unneeded plugins, and the site seems (fingers all crossed!) to be running much better now.
I’ll keep an eye on it, but it’s fantastic to know that there are people such as yourself out there who might be able to help in the future 🙂
Best wishes,
Steve
