Who I Am

I am a junior-level MERN Full Stack developer based in San Francisco. My professional skills and tool sets include:

My Background

Spring of last year I completed the Software Engineering Immersive program offered by General Assembly, a four month full-stack boot camp during which I acquired over 600 hours of experience and education in web development software, languages, and best practices. I went from having the barest concepts of designing with HTML and CSS to being competent and comfortable working with complex design and development for both the front end and back end of a web application, particularly one based on React.

Prior to this experience, which was a career pivot to coding, I had a substantial background working in 3D, primarily in architectural previsualization for experiential marketing events. In my spare time, to bolster my design skills and provide a solid foundation for them, I pursued and acquired a Certificate of Achievement in Visual Media Design at City College of San Francisco.

This year, I was able to bring both of those skill sets together in a 2-month internship at Mondoo.io, a company focused on providing security analysis for cloud systems. By working with a team of ridiculously skilled and talented individuals, I was exposed to high-concept and high-complexity code while also developing some secondary skills in advanced Markdown creation and dipping my toes into TypeScript.

Why I’m Here

I do wish to gain more experience, but I want to do so in a manner that is above and beyond personal projects. I want to provide my peculiar blend of skills to those who could make use of them but might not otherwise be able to acquire them; I want to see what kinds of projects and ideas are out there beyond the corporate monoliths or frenzied, aimless startups; and above all, I want to do good with my skills, applying them to projects that matter and causes that can make a difference. I want to be able to look at positive changes happening, however big or small, and be able to say, “I helped make that happen.”
