Signalong Songs: The First donate:code Project
The project that kicked the idea off for donate:code was Signalong Songs, on behalf of the Cope Foundation. The Cope Foundation is a well respected non-profit organisation which supports over 2,300 children and adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism.
The team at Cope, the Speech & Language Therapists and a Music Therapist, came up with the idea for an iPad app which could be used to develop children’s vocabulary through music and Irish signs.
James built the app using Appcelerator Titanium, a cross platform mobile application framework, which is based on JavaScript. With the music videos and design being done by the team at Cope, and graphic design provided by Katie McGroarty from Ball & Socket Design Studio, this project took about six months to complete.
The project was given some good attention; the following clip is from Ireland’s TV3 news.
The Cope Foundation had a complete press launch for the app, which is still doing really well on the app store.
