Currently if you are an artist who wants to get your music on DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes etc.) you need to either be signed by a record label or sign up to a distribution service such as TuneCore or CD Baby. Imagine if instead of these major companies profiting from musicians, the money generated went back into helping musicians themselves.
My idea is to create a low-cost music distribution service where artists are asked to donate 5-15% of their royalties to music based charities. I believe with current technology we will be able to create a service that is competitive with the current distribution companies whilst also benefiting musicians.
As someone who does not have experience creating this kind of service, I am seeking advice on the best way to structure this product as well as finding out what expertise and investment is needed to build it. Currently there is a lot of talk in the industry about Blockchain being the future of distribution and metadata so creating a service that is future proof is very important.

Hi Lewis, thanks for replying! That’s no worries – I am able to look after the deals etc.
A little more information about what we need: users will need to be able to create a profile and upload their music/information, which will then need to be transferred to our storage/delivery partner http://www.ci-info.com/ via their API. Users will also need to be able to see analytics from the major services (Apple, Spotify, YouTube) via each services API.
